Choosing pallets for your handling conditions
Provide goods weight, package dimensions, placement on the pallet and securing method. Distributed and concentrated loads may require different designs even at the same weight. Do not select a pallet solely by appearance, outside dimensions or a capacity figure without operating conditions.
Start with the goods and load distribution

Distinguish floor storage, handling and racking
Floor storage, lifting and racking have different support and loading conditions. For racking, provide support spacing, orientation and system requirements. Capacity must be reviewed for each condition and design rather than treated as one universal value.
Match the design to handling equipment
State whether forklifts or pallet trucks are used, whether two-way or four-way entry is needed and any fork-clearance requirements. Drawings should identify deck boards, blocks or stringers, spacing and fasteners. A generic “standard pallet” description is insufficient for confirmation.
Clarify treatment, moisture and documents
For export shipments, provide the destination and the consignee’s treatment, marking and documentation requirements. Feasibility should be reviewed before quotation. Moisture, treatment and documentation are separate specification items; “dried pallets” alone do not establish compliance.
Approve samples and acceptance conditions
Where samples are needed, agree the design, cost, schedule and inspection method before volume production. Record quantity, tolerances, quality criteria, packing and destination. Minimum quantities and lead time are confirmed per order in the quotation and B2B contract.
